750MC - SRGTC Final 2006 Race - Mallory Park

The penultimate race of the season for Ken Culverwell in the Mamba Motorsport C23R was a washout with the race abandoned after only 1 lap!

Mallory Park 22 October, 750 Motor Club SRGTC.
In a dry but cold practice session, Ken overcame the disappointment of the tyre deliverer not turning up on Friday and put his C23R fifth on the grid.
The weather forecast was for solid rain and it proved to be true as the heavens opened midway through the afternoon and it became hard to tell where Mallory's track ended and its lake began!
A scheduled 4.30 start-time still gave hope for it drying out and (all credit to the organisers) the race started on time but the weather worsened. After two green flag laps, the start was tentative with lots of spray as the two Cobras of Cheng Lim and Mark Jordan got away in the lead with Ken making an easy place off the start and going with the Cobras rather than the Crossles behind.
But less than half a lap later both lead Cobras were spinning through the esses. Ken came round in second place but the race was red-flagged with Jordan's stuck in a danger area.
The officials rightly deemed it too dangerous to restart and the rest of the program was cancelled.
So a disappointing day of  "not really racing".

As a side note to all those of you who have signed up for our free C23 DVD offer - we had cameras around the track to get some extra footage for the race section and an on-board camera in Ken's car.

I'm afraid the amount of rain on the lenses doesn't really make for great watching but the two spinning Cobras will definitely make it to the 'bloopers' in the extras section.

Umbrellas away we hope for next weeks Birkett Relay at Silverstone!
